Patrick Masson has over 20 years of experience in senior leadership positions supporting Information Technology within the higher education and non-profit sectors, including as: CTO at UMass', Office of the President; CIO at The State University of New York, College of Technology at Delhi, and currently; General Manager of the Open Source Initiative.

Patrick has written and presented extensively on Information Technology, Agile Project Management and Open Source Software. He serves on the Apereo Foundation Advisory Board; is a member of of Open Education Consortium's Year of Open Steering Committee; former Chair, EDUCAUSE Openness Constituent Group; former Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the SUNY CIO Council; co-founder of Jasig's 2-3-98 project; and, "SIG Master" for NERCOMP's Open Source in Higher Education.
