My name is Philip Olson and I love Open Source.
[edit] What I desire to work on for TOS
The Teaching Materials Project generally teaches about Open Source and my focus will be on How to create and manage Get Involved sections for a project.
[edit] The Plan
- Scour the web and study current projects
- Find what works
- Isolate specific problems and trends
- Find bottlenecks and commonly asked questions people end up repeating
- Determine intuitive ways to present all of this information (the tough part!)
The end result will be a resource with information for Open Source projects to steal and integrate into their sites. For example, if a project uses CVS then they may use (and edit) a VCS snippet specific to CVS.
