From Teaching Open Source
[edit] Fardad Soleimanloo
[Fardad Soleimanloo], among many other things, teaches programming courses at Seneca College. As a participant in the Red Hat's POSSE 2009, he is exploring further how to integrate students into large, open source projects like OpenOffice and Eclipse.
[edit] Open Source
In the open-source world, Fardad is both an Observer and Developer with the [OpenOffice Education Project]. is interested in working with the [OpenOffice] project. Currently, this is in the context of [OSD600], a course that (from the course description) "introduces students to the technological, social, and pragmatic aspects of developing open source software through direct involvement in the Eclipse WTP and OpenOffice.org projects." This is similar to other open-source efforts in the curriculum at Seneca, but slightly different in that the scope of possible student work is constrained to working on a project chosen from a list of possible endeavors regarding either Eclipse or OpenOffice.
[edit] Around the Web
Fardad writes online at [seneblog.fardad.com], and on IRC is typically known as *fardad*. Like other POSSE members, he can be found in the #teachingopensource-posse channel at irc.freenode.net.
