Hardware[edit]

South Africa[edit]

  • Date: October 3-8, 2010
  • Location : Cape Peninsula University of Technology (host: Michael Adeyeye and the Department of Information Systems)
  • Project: Fedora
  • Instructors: Mel Chua, Jan Wildeboer
  • Sponsorship: Not yet arranged (need a request for budget with specific line items, but we have a hotel quote for slightly under $800 per person for 7 nights, for the instructors.)
  • Attendees: 3 interested (need at least 5).

Kernel[edit]

Not yet approved as an official POSSE, missing details below.

  • Main planner: Matthew Whitehead, Red Hat
  • Date: Not yet chosen; we're looking into Fall 2010 as a possibility, and our go/no-go date for that is June 1st. If it is no-go, we'll bump to Spring or Summer 2011.
  • Location: Not yet chosen, U of Alabama at Huntsville proposed due to proximity to potential instructors.
  • Project: Linux kernel
  • Instructors: Not yet arranged, but Matthew has leads (availability largely dependent on clearance from their workplaces to teach for a week). Mel Chua is willing to be the experienced POSSE instructor on site (but does not have kernel hacking experience, and is happy to step aside in favor of another instructor who does).
  • Sponsorship: Not yet arranged.
  • Attendees: No count yet (need at least 5).

Malaysia[edit]

  • Location: Needs to be set (possibilities include CMU Silicon Valley and the Red Hat Mountain View office)
  • Project: Fedora, focused on cloud/virt - or maybe Drupal? There are local Santa Cruz Drupal folks. Also, Jefro is interested in doing an embedded (Beagleboard) one.
