I added back the link to the author's User: page and the Table of Contents because this is a wiki.
It is helpful to new users of this data for them to have access to the author's self-description so the new user may determine the authority of the author.
It is useful to have the ability to scroll to a particular section because this article is long and not all computer displays are tall enough to display the whole article. I think it may be more useful if the Table of Contents were the full contents of the page and the separate sections of the article were broken into individual articles.
I agree this may not be appropriate for any print copy of the textbook, but this is the wiki copy and should respect the capabilities and limitations of the medium by which it will be delivered.
I believe it would also be useful for all wiki editors to fill in their User: page so we may have a communication medium to develop a consensus editing style.
