This is a workshop to introduce POSSE and Teaching Open Source to the education and general audience at SCALE 9x.

0:00 - 0:30 POSSE introduction, Sugar background & focus
0:30 - 1:00 Secrets of beginning participation
1:00 - 1:30 Start playing with XO/get Sugar running on personal devices
1:30 - 3:00+ Follow described QA process (play, think, report)

  • 4:30 pm to 5 pm :: POSSE Info Session. At end of Fedora Activity Day.
    • Location :: Fedora Activity Day (FAD) room.

  • 11:30 :: POSSE Info Session presented to Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) session.
    • Location :: Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) room.

  • 9 am to 10 am :: POSSE Info Session presented to anyone.
    • Location :: Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) room.
  • 10 am to 2:30 pm :: POSSE Workshop Participation portion includes hands-on with an OLPC XO-1, or running Sugar on your own laptop, and testing Sugar activities.
    • Location :: Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) room.

Steps

  1. Find area of Sugar to focus on
    1. Talk on #sugar to find an area that can take a test day
    2. Blog about it, "I'm going to have N newcomers with $background and $resources and $time and $these_people available to supervise, what can we do for you with this labor pool?"
  2. Setup using Fedora test day format: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days
    • Write up test cases
    • Do some nice graphics, print it out
