We're looking forward to meeting you at POSSE, July 19-24. Here is some pre-event information to help you get started.

[edit] Schedule for the Week
This is the weeks' schedule in a nutshell:
- Sunday, July 19: We'll meet at 5 pm at the hotel for dinner and an initial welcome session.
- Monday-Thursday: Sessions will start at around 8:30 am and run to mid-afternoon (somewhere between 2 and 4 pm). There will be an overnight deliverable (homework!) most nights, and an evening event on Thursday.
- Friday, July 24: POSSE will run from 8:30 am to noon.

[edit] Location Information
POSSE will be held at the Red Hat headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina (Google map: http://tinyurl.com/o52rcu).
Hotel local transportation arrangements arrangements are being finalized by Greg and will be mailed out soon. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day, and there will be a dinner on Sunday and Thursday night. Evening meals for other days will be reimbursed on a per-diem basis.
[edit] Notebook Requirements
To get the most out of POSSE, you will need a notebook computer.
These are the minimum requirements:
- x86 (Intel/AMD processor), 32- or 64-bit
- 512MB RAM
- 3G of free disk space
- Wireless networking (802.11b or 802.11g)
- Can be running Windows, OSX, or Linux
- Must have administrative and software installation rights for the installed operating system
These are the recommended specifications:
- 1G or more RAM
- 15G+ of free space
- Optical drive
Software requirements:
- You will need to have Firefox installed on your laptop.
- You will need an ssh client program installed on your laptop. OSX and Linux will have an ssh client installed by default; if you are running Windows, you will need a client such as 'putty' (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/). You may also want to install the 'Xming' software (http://www.straightrunning.com/XmingNotes/).
- It is recommended that you install Fedora 11 on your notebook (http://fedoraproject.org).
This software can be easily installed on Sunday night after the Welcome session.
If you are unable to bring a notebook, please let us know in advance.
