Xapian is a Search Engine Library which aims to be fast, scalable, and flexible. It's used by many organizations around the world, including Debian, One Laptop per Child, Gmane, and the Financial Times. It supports probabilistic ranking and a rich set of boolean query operators. The core library is written in C++, with bindings to allow use from C#, Java, Perl, PHP5, Python, Ruby, Tcl and Lua. For more information, visit the project website: http://xapian.org/

- Students: We are interested in mentoring students who'd like to work on Xapian or projects related to Xapian.
- Educators: We're also interested in working with educators, particularly those teaching courses related to Free Software/Open Source and/or Information Retrieval.
In addition to mentoring and collaborating online, we would be open to mentoring and collaborating in person, and also presenting or attending talks, workshops, etc. We have potential mentors located in Cambridge, UK, Portland, Orgeon, USA, and Wellington, New Zealand.
